Reaching Out: Castle Hills Community
Every other Sunday, from 1:30 to 2:30, we have a group that plays board games and shares encouraging conversation with the residents of Edgewood Assisted Living.
We have a great relationship with Cynthia Mann Elementary School. We love to see this community flourish. During the school year, the school sends home food items that are easily carried in backpacks and accessible to students. These are sent home for the weekends-when school meals are not available. We collect those food items as part of Cynthia Mann’s efforts to address food insecurity. There is a foods list available on the Castle Hills Community board at the church building (5707 W Castle Dr.). Students and Staff from the school help in our community garden and we have had the privilege of hosting the Cynthia Mann Parent Teacher Association’s Art Auction.
A new season is underway in our Castle Hills Community Garden. Individuals garden their own rows. Many of our gardeners share produce with others.
We will have Garden Parties Saturday, April 25 and June 27 from 10:00am-2:00pm. Stop by for a hamburger and some conversation. Do some weeding, show off your rows, or see what other gardeners have going on. You don’t even need to be a gardener to join in.
